It was good to see the Fremantle Town Hall looking like it's original self again after extensive restorations last year. When the town hall was opened back in 1887 Freo was a small backwater town population roughly 4000, so you can imagine what they thought of this rather grand affair but with the gold rushes in the later part of the 19th century the population had increased to 25,000 by 1900 thus making the grand town hall much more appropriate! Can you believe in the 1960's at great cost they painted the town hall white.. quelle horreur, what were they thinking! It took a team of specialized workers with traditional skills, read about it and see it in it's 'white period' here, to restore it to it's original state. Must have been a b--ger to get the paint off 😉 Bon weekend, take care and stay safe.. P.s. blue skies are here again...
