Sculpture by the Sea IV.. Hush.

Whether you enjoy contemporary art or not you can't deny the beauty of the outdoor gallery that is Cottesloe Beach. We weren't sure if 'Hush' above, created in aluminum and gold leaf by WA artist Olga Cironis was an inter-active piece or not.. it is, the next time you see it it will have a young lady with flowing red hair sitting hoping to 'feel the unbridled wind, the ocean pounding on the shore'.. and a beautiful sunset thrown in would be parfait :)

Above "Echoes lll, lV and V' created in dingo proof fencing wire by WA artist Sally Stoneman.. and below 'Viral Escapade' by Tas/New Sealand artist Marcus Tatton.. a current predicament..

Below 'StarMan' in bronze and steel by Victorian artist Michael Sibel.. the artist 'encourages the audience to reach for ideas and connections that lie beyond our reach'..

Below 'Sea Enemies 5' materials used, salvaged fishing ropes and net, ocean detritus, steel round bar frame and created by WA artist Merle Davis.. 'references sea anemones and all sea life threatened by careless dumping of rubbish, particularly plastic, into the ocean'..

Everything about the piece below made me smile.. including the artist's name.. Portugal/NSW artist or artists Cool Shit :) Titled 'Homer Homer' the artist's statement simply 'Old story, New hero'!

I confess to 'sometimes' being an art pleb, my first though here was 'I could do with a Mr Whippy right now' :) but this is a serious work below by Capto Collaborative, the piece 'Shell Resonance' utilises a sinking arm, conch shell and small speakers to distort the myth and reflect on what the ocean truly sounds like ..plastic'..

Finishing today with the fabulous 'Lair II' created in cotton string, galvanised steel wire, turnbuckles and tent pegs by WA artist Britt Mikkelsen. The artist's statement 'spider webs are objects of intricacy and beauty found in every Australian household, yet spiders are still reviled and feared. Recreated on a human scale this artwork entices the viewer to enter the lair and experience the spiders point of view'..
