David Laidler, photo editor extraordinaire, watches the sun set.

David passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer.

David quite literally led me to the path my life would take. I was broke, in NY, trying to figure out the next step in photography, when after one office portfolio review he asked if I was ready to go to Iraq. That was in 2003, and was my first big assignment. Ever since then he was an agent, a friend, a confidant, a mentor. I came to see his newborn child, he came to see mine. He even taught me how to roll homemade sushi (which I will never do again).
He created a space that fostered creativity and friendship. A place I found my wife and best friends within.

I will miss him dearly.
