The male Pied Flycatcher is still in the area around the new screen. It's quite mobile and twice it was seen to fly onto a bare perch in the new screen area, before moving off along the hedge.

I had a nice surprise in the garden today as the Great Spotted Woodpecker made a return for the first time this year. Also singing Song Thrush still.

I completed my quarterly RSPB-style Big Garden Birdwatch this morning.

Great news that "my" Stock Doves appeared during my survey - two of them with one of them lingering on the lawn for ages. Other birds were: 6 House Sparrows, 5 Starlings, 4 Wood Pigeons, 4 Jackdaws, 3 Collared Doves, 3 Rooks, 1 Magpie, 1 Robin and 1 Goldfinch.

Not many songbirds. One interesting little stat. though is that the Magpies are averaging 4 in Autumn and winter but only 1 in the spring.
